African Queen by 2Baba, a guitar ballad with elements of West African folk music and hip-hop is one of the greatest love songs from Africa. African Queen was included in Tuface’s Face 2 Face album which was realised in 2004. It became a major hit and sold up to 2 million copies in Nigeria alone. It quickly spread through western and southern Africa, and eventually making an impact in Europe as well. In 2006, it was used in the soundtrack for the film "Phat Girlz", which was released internationally.
The music video which has over 16 million views featured Tuface’s wife, Annie Macaulay who was his girlfriend when the song was released. Prior to the start of Annie Macaulay–Idibia's acting career, she competed at the "Queen of All Nations Beauty Pageant" where she placed first runner-up.
Black Face, a former bandmate of Tuface had claimed ownership of two of 2baba’s biggest hit, "African Queen". He went ahead to file a N50 million libel suit against. He claimed to have written the song while both were members of the defunct "Plantashun Boiz". 2baba reached an out-of-court settlement with Black Face. Later in 2020 Blackface realised his own version of African Queen followed up with a video which is also available on YouTube.
